How to Set Rate Plan Restrictions
Updated over a week ago

Adding restrictions to your rate plans can significantly enhance the efficiency and profitability of your tourism business. In this article, we'll guide you through the process of setting up these restrictions and explain why they can be beneficial for your business.

Watch the video below to learn how to set rate plan restrictions and make the most of this feature for your business:

Why Add Restrictions to Rate Plans?

Restrictions in rate plans allow you to tailor your offerings based on specific business needs or customer behavior. For example:

  • Special Rates for Large Groups: Offer discounts or special packages to attract larger groups.

  • Advance Bookings: Set a minimum advance purchase requirement to ensure adequate preparation time for bookings.

  • Week-long Packages: Create special deals for guests booking a week-long stay, enhancing occupancy rates.

  • Control Over Booking Dynamics: Manage the flow of guests by setting minimum or maximum nights, especially during peak or off-peak seasons.

These restrictions enable you to customize your offerings, ensuring they align with your business strategies and customer demands.

Setting Up Restrictions

  1. Access Rate Plans: Go to "Settings" and click the dropdown in your Checkout Flow dashboard. Select "Checkout Settings and Rate Plans".

  2. Choose a Rate Plan: Scroll down to view your rate plans. Select a plan to edit or create a new one. If you need basics on creating or editing rate plans, refer to our previous article.

  3. Open Advanced Restrictions: In the Edit Rate Plan, click the "Show advanced restrictions" link at the bottom. This opens a menu for setting restrictions.

  4. Select Restrictions: The available restrictions include:

    • Minimum or Maximum Guests

    • Minimum or Maximum Advance Purchase

    • Minimum or Maximum Nights (only for accommodation)

    • Note: All restrictions are inclusive of the value set (e.g., a minimum of 2 guests will apply the rate when searching for 2 guests).

  5. Enable and Set Values: Check the box next to the restriction you want to apply and fill in the desired value.

  6. Save Changes: Click 'Save' to apply these restrictions. You can set multiple restrictions within the same rate plan.

Considerations When Editing Rate Plans

  • Impact on Existing Products: Remember that changes to a rate plan will apply to all products currently using that rate. This factor is crucial to consider as it affects how your offerings are presented and booked by customers.

By setting up rate plan restrictions, you gain greater control over how your products are booked, aligning with your business objectives and operational needs.
