What is a pre-authorisation charge?
Pre-authorisation is when a business places a temporary hold on a customer’s card, to verify that the account is valid and has sufficient funds to cover a pending transaction, without debiting the account.
Can I pre-authorise cards with Tab?
You can’t use Tab to hold pre-authorisation charges. This also applies to refundable security deposits, which can’t be processed through Tab. Where we can help is with our Advance Booking feature which, along with a clear refund policy, is a great way to secure your bookings in advance. Here's how.
If you receive secure card details from Booking.com and Expedia, you can charge your customers when they make a reservation. You can find a step-by-step guide on how to take these payments via Tab here.
