You can use the Tab for Business app to take payments in person from your guests. Click below to learn how to use the "Accept Card" feature on the mobile app.

1. Enter the amount

Open the Tab for Business app on your phone or tablet (available for iPhone/iPad and Android).

Hit "Accept Card" and enter the amount to charge the customer.

Tab lets you accept payments by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Maestro, Discover, Diners Club, JCB and China UnionPay – both credit & debit cards.

2. Scan payment card

The app uses your camera to capture details from the payment card. We do not store a photo of the card.

Just line up the edges of the payment card in the box. You need to enter the 3-digit CVV number from the back of the card. For an American Express card, use the 4-digits printed on the front of the card.

If your camera cannot read the card, you can hit "Enter Manually" and type the card details.

Tip

It's easiest if you leave the card flat on a table while you position the camera.

3. Hand device to the customer

Our app will detect the currency of the customer's card – please ask the customer to check this is correct. They can choose a different currency by tapping the currency.

The customer can check the amount in their own currency – and we always show the rate and the customer fee.

Ask the customer to enter their details. We need their name, their email (for the receipt), and a selfie of the guest.

Why a selfie?

We use the selfie for security purposes, to prevent unauthorised use of the card. It's your guest's digital signature.

4. Confirm payment

Once you hit "Confirm Payment", we will charge the card.

If the payment is successful, you will see a confirmation.

What if the payment fails?

If the payment fails, we will explain why and suggest how to fix the problem.

You and the customer will receive an email receipt within a few minutes. You can also see the payment on the list of recent transactions on the app and on your online dashboard.
